The New York Times newspaper claimed that Facebook is working on an application similar to Clubhouse, the popular social media channel of recent days.

According to the New York Times, Facebook’s top executives asked their employees to develop a Clubhouse-like application known internally as ‘Fireside’.
Mark Zuckerberg, founder and CEO of Facebook, also participated in a discussion at the Clubhouse recently.
The people who spoke to the newspaper said that it was in the first days of the application, so the name could change.
Facebook spokesperson told the newspaper that they have been working on audio and video technologies for many years and are trying to discover new ways.
Clubhouse did not make a statement on the subject.
Buying new apps without growing
It is known that Facebook either bought new technologies and popular applications that emerged before or produced similar ones.
In addition to applications such as Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, the virtual reality company acquired Oculus when it was a smaller company.
Instagram added the story section by copying Snapchat’s features in 2016.
Last year, it introduced the TikTok-like Reels feature.

Clubhouse, which was founded by Paul Davison and Rohan Seth last year, is spreading rapidly, although it is still in the testing phase.
For now, Clubhouse, which works only on devices with iOS operating system and with an invitation system, has already been banned in China because it creates an environment for discussion on different topics.
According to the Financial Times, the application reached a valuation of $ 1 billion.
