German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said on the 17th that the increase in Ukrainian refugees who fled the Russian invasion and came to Germany would be a “extremely big challenge”. He said after discussing a pandemic of the new coronavirus with leaders from 16 states.
However, he also pointed out that it would be relatively easy to support retention because an entry visa is not required and medical care and education can be automatically accessed.
German police officials have registered just under 190,000 refugees from Ukraine so far.
